A long flowering hardy perennial that bares dense spikes of blue flowers with violet bracts. The leaves and seeds have an aniseed flavour and can be used raw in salads, cooked (in cakes or muffins) or steeped for a tea. The seed heads can be dried and used in flower arrangements.
