CORN SALAD 'Verde de Cambrai'
Valerianella locusta
These 15cm short, dark-green leafy rosettes are a tasty autumn, winter and early spring salad. Leaves are small and round. The leaves should be picked regularly after the first frost when they have a delicious, nutty flavour. Often self-seeding, they’re good around the base of fruit trees and are also easily grown in pots. Also known as Lamb’s Lettuce or Mache. 200 seeds.
Sowing Instructions
Best sown in autumn. Sow direct to garden or into pots for later transplanting. Cover thinly, keep moist & cool (7-20OC). Germination takes about 8-14 days. Temperatures > 20 OC can inhibit germination. Harvest when mature as the flavour declines once the plant gets too old.
