Cucumis metuliferus
Pretty kooky!! A green thorned fruit that matures bright orange/yellow colour. A great addition to the home garden, not only for the novelty value but can be eaten green as a cucumber or yellow/orange as a fruit, when it sweetens up and has hints of banana and passionfruit. They’re also known as jelly melon or kiwano and originate from sub Saharan Africa. The fruit store well. 40 seeds.
Sowing Instructions
Sow direct to garden when weather 20˚C+. For an early crop or in cold areas*, sow indoors and transplant when weather and soil has warmed. Keep seeds moist & warm, 21OC. Prefers well-drained, fertile soil.
