An American bred swede that has a creamy root with a bright purple top. Easy to grow provided plants are thinned to a spacing of at least 20 cm. A rich flavour that is ideal in soups, stews and roasted. Best sown in late summer or early autumn as frost sweetens up the roots and enhances the flavour. Roots mature in about 90 days, they can be harvested earlier. 300 seeds.
At last a swede that is sweet and rich in flavour without any trace of the turnip flavour found in many other swedes. Swedes are easy to grow, store in the ground through winter and produce remarkable yields. These are a great fresh substitute for the potato. Beautiful braised or baked as a gratin.
